Daily Renewable Energy Roundup India | POWERGRID 3 GW Transmission Win, Tata Power Grid Upgrade & New Solar Orders

Urja kranti Reported that renewable energy sector is accelerating rapidly in early 2026, with fresh momentum in large-scale solar projects, energy storage integration, and domestic manufacturing. Here are the top highlights from recent announcements.

India renewable energy news featuring POWERGRID 3 GW transmission project in Karnataka, Tata Power Jalpura Khurja transmission line, Waaree Energies 105 MW solar module order and Ravindra Energy 62 MW solar projects

POWERGRID Wins 3 GW Transmission Project in Karnataka (Renewable Energy Integration)

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder to build a major transmission system in Karnataka that will help connect and evacuate 3,000 MW (3 GW) of renewable energy into the national grid. This was part of a tariff-based competitive bidding process.

POWERGRID will build new 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines and associated grid infrastructure.

The project focuses on renewable energy hubs at Davanagere (250 MW) and Bellary (2,750 MW) in Karnataka.

This transmission link is critical for integrating large solar and wind generation into India’s power network, helping to boost clean energy distribution.

Tata Power Commissions Jalpura-Khurja Transmission Line

Tata Power’s transmission subsidiary has commissioned a key transmission asset under the 400/220 kV TP Jalpura-Khurja project near Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.

The work includes a high-capacity 400/220 kV transmission line and substation, adding 1,000 MVA transformation capacity to the grid.

This infrastructure supports the Northern Grid, helping meet growing electricity demand in the Uttar Pradesh and NCR region.

This strengthens the power network in a high-demand region and improves supply stability for industrial and residential load centers.

Waaree Energies Bags 105 MW Solar Module Supply Order

Waaree Energies Ltd., one of India’s largest solar photovoltaic (PV) module manufacturers, has secured a new order to supply solar modules totalling 105 MW to a domestic renewable developer during the 2025–26 financial year.

The contract is a one-time supply order for high-efficiency solar PV modules.

The execution is expected to be completed by the end of the current financial year.

Waaree clarified that this is a normal commercial deal, and not a related party transaction.

This continues strong demand for Indian-made solar technology as the country expands its renewable power capacity.

Ravindra Energy Wins 62 MW Solar Project Contracts (Karnataka)

Ravindra Energy Ltd. (REL) has been awarded development contracts for 62 MW of solar power capacity by Hubli Electricity Supply Company (HESCOM) in Karnataka.

13 separate solar project sites (sub-stations) totaling 62 MW capacity.

A 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with HESCOM at an average tariff of around ₹2.95/unit

Expected investment of around ₹225 crore.

Projects are scheduled to be commissioned within 12 months from signing.

This solidifies REL’s role in utility-scale solar deployment and contributes to renewable capacity expansion in southern India.
