Waaree Energies Limited has entered the wind energy sector with a 300 MW project awarded by Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited.

Mumbai base India's latgest solar photovoltaic module manufacturers Waaree Energies Limited has formally entered the wind energy segment after its wholly owned subsidiary, Waaree Forever Energies Private Limited, secured a Letter of Award (LoA) on February 24, 2026, from Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI) for the development of a 300 MW wind power project in Dwarka, Gujarat.
The project will operate under a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) from the scheduled commencement of supply date, providing long-term revenue visibility and strengthening the company’s renewable portfolio beyond solar manufacturing.
Project Location and Grid Details
The 300 MW wind project will be located in Dwarka district, Gujarat, one of India’s most resource-rich wind corridors. The project will be connected through Jamkhambhaliya PS-II / Kalyanpur GIS, ensuring strong grid evacuation infrastructure in the region.
Solar Energy Corporation of India, the central government’s nodal renewable energy agency, has been instrumental in scaling large-format renewable projects across India, and this award further reinforces Gujarat’s position as a renewable energy hub.
Strategic Expansion Beyond Solar
Founded in 1990 and headquartered in Mumbai, Waaree Energies is India’s largest solar PV module manufacturer with an operational capacity exceeding 23 GW, along with 5.4 GW of solar cell manufacturing capacity. The company operates as a vertically integrated player offering EPC services, inverters, and energy storage solutions, with exports to over 25 countries.
With this wind power win, Waaree transitions from being primarily a manufacturing-led solar enterprise to a multi-technology renewable energy developer. Industry analysts view this as a strategic step toward participating in future hybrid and round-the-clock renewable tenders, where wind and solar complement each other to provide stable generation.
Boost to India’s Clean Energy Goals
India has set a target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, and large-scale wind additions remain crucial to balancing solar-heavy growth. Gujarat, already a leading renewable state, continues to attract significant investments due to strong policy support and transmission readiness.
Waaree’s entry into wind signals a broader trend of solar manufacturers expanding upstream into power generation assets, creating long-term annuity income streams and strengthening their role in India’s energy transition.
With this 300 MW project, Waaree Energies positions itself as a serious contender in India’s evolving renewable landscape — moving decisively from modules to megawatts across technologies.
