Urja Kranti reports that India’s renewable energy sector continues to expand at a rapid pace. As of September 2025, India has achieved 203.6 GW of installed renewable energy capacity, excluding large hydro, while over 148 GW of clean energy projects remain under construction, signalling strong momentum toward the country’s 2030 targets.
This growth reflects India’s sustained policy support, strong investor interest, and accelerated project execution across solar, wind, and hybrid renewable technologies.
The table below highlights the state-wise distribution of under-construction renewable energy projects across India, including solar, wind and hybrid capacity.
Massive Pipeline of Renewable Energy Projects
Technology-Wise Breakdown of Under-Construction Capacity :-
1) Solar Power Projects:
The wind energy sector continues to regain momentum, with 26,273.4 MW of wind projects currently under development across key wind-rich states.
3) Hybrid Renewable Projects:
A notable 28,135.655 MW of hybrid (solar-wind) projects are under construction, underlining the growing focus on hybrid solutions to improve capacity utilization and grid reliability.
The rapid expansion of renewable energy capacity aligns with India’s long-term climate and energy goals, including achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
The strong pipeline of under-construction projects indicates sustained progress toward reducing dependence on fossil fuels, cutting carbon emissions, and enhancing energy security.
Hybrid projects, in particular, are gaining traction due to their ability to provide more stable power output by combining solar and wind resources, making them increasingly attractive for utilities and power distribution companies.
With nearly 345 GW of combined installed and under-construction renewable energy capacity, India’s clean energy sector is poised for continued growth over the coming years.
Timely commissioning of ongoing projects, continued policy support, and grid infrastructure upgrades will be critical to maintaining this momentum.
As India accelerates toward its renewable energy targets, the sector is expected to play a central role in driving sustainable economic growth while supporting the country’s global climate commitments.
