Vayona Energy has signed a 702 MW wind turbine supply agreement with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a subsidiary of Tata Power Company Limited, in a move that strengthens India’s onshore wind energy pipeline.
Under the agreement, Vayona Energy will supply 195 units of its SG 3.6-145 wind turbines for projects spread across Karnataka, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu. The installations are expected to further enhance Tata Power Renewable Energy’s wind generation portfolio across key high-wind states.
The 702 MW order marks one of the significant turbine supply deals in the domestic wind sector this year, reflecting renewed activity in India’s renewable energy market.
Capacity Milestone
With this agreement, Vayona Energy’s installed base in India has surpassed the 2 GW mark, while its overall order book now stands at over 3.6 GW, according to company officials.
The company said it is ramping up its production facilities to meet growing market demand and reinforce its commitment to domestic manufacturing under the “Make in India” initiative.
Industry Context
India’s wind energy sector has witnessed a gradual recovery in project activity, supported by improved auction mechanisms, hybrid tenders and transmission infrastructure upgrades.
For Tata Power Renewable Energy, the deal aligns with its strategy to expand its renewable energy portfolio as India moves toward its target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Industry experts note that large multi-state wind deployments are expected to play a critical role in stabilising renewable power generation and supporting grid reliability.
