Jyoti Structures powers 4.5 GW renewable evacuation with 240 CKM of 400 kV multi-circuit line, strengthening India’s clean energy grid.
Mumbai Base Jyoti Structures Limited (JSL), a leading Indian power engineering company, has successfully completed and energized the 400 kV Multi-Circuit Line-in-Line-Out (LILO) connecting Pirana (Torrent Power) to Pirana (Power Grid) at the POWERGRID substation in Ahmedabad.
The project forms a critical component of the 4.5 GW renewable energy evacuation system for the Khavda Phase-II solar project, ensuring the efficient transmission of clean energy to the regional grid.
Technical Overview of the Project
The project involved the execution of 240 Circuit Kilometers (CKM) of High Temperature Low Sag (HTLS) transmission lines, designed to withstand higher loads and temperatures while minimizing sagging, making it suitable for long-distance renewable energy transmission.
Key technical achievements include :-
● Three major crossings of the Sabarmati River
● Several critical urban road crossings in Ahmedabad
● Adoption of innovative construction solutions such as porta mats for stable access, high-capacity dewatering pumps for water-logged areas, and heavy-lift cranes for tower erection
● Despite challenges like Right of Way (ROW) constraints, limited shutdown availability, and difficult terrain, the JSL team successfully completed the project on schedule.
Strategic Significance
The completion of this line strengthens the Khavda Phase-II renewable energy network, allowing for smoother evacuation of power from solar farms to urban consumption centers. This line not only enhances grid stability but also supports India’s ongoing transition toward clean and sustainable energy sources.
Jyoti Structures Limited expressed gratitude to Torrent Power Grid Ltd for their trust, guidance, and continued cooperation, which were instrumental in overcoming the technical and logistical challenges during project execution.
