Tata Power Company Limited is one of India’s oldest and largest integrated power companies and a part of the Tata Group. Established in 1915, the company operates across the entire power value chain, including power generation, transmission, distribution, renewable energy, solar manufacturing, energy storage, and EV charging infrastructure.
TP Solar Limited (TP Solar), the solar manufacturing arm and wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), has reported a robust manufacturing performance during the first nine months of FY26 (April–December 2025), reinforcing Tata Power’s leadership in India’s rapidly expanding domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem.
During the nine-month period, TP Solar produced 2.8 GW of solar cells and 2.9 GW of solar modules, reflecting strong capacity ramp-up and improved operational efficiency at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Strong Q3 FY26 Performance
TP Solar recorded a sharp acceleration in production during Q3 FY26, particularly in cell manufacturing :-
Solar Cell Production :-
- 940 MW in Q3 FY26, compared to 196 MW in Q3 FY25
- Nearly 5x year-on-year growth, highlighting rapid stabilization and scale-up of operations
Solar Module Production :-
- 990 MW in Q3 FY26, versus 927 MW in Q3 FY25
- Around 7% year-on-year growth, reflecting steady demand and improved throughput
This strong quarterly performance underscores TP Solar’s consistent execution strategy and growing manufacturing maturity.
DCR and ALMM Module Mix Strengthens Domestic Supply Chain
- Out of the 2.9 GW of solar modules manufactured during the nine-month period:
- 2.4 GW were Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) modules
- 0.5 GW were ALMM-listed modules
All DCR modules are produced using Made-in-India solar cells, supporting India’s policy push for domestic manufacturing under the ALMM and DCR frameworks and reducing reliance on imports.
One of India’s Largest Single-Location Solar Manufacturing Facilities
TP Solar operates one of India’s largest single-location, integrated solar cell and module manufacturing plants with a capacity of 4.3 GW, located in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu.
Key highlights of the facility include :-
- Advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC manufacturing technologies
- Production of both ALMM-certified and DCR modules
- High operational efficiency and scalable production lines
The facility plays a critical role in strengthening India’s solar value chain and enhancing long-term energy security.
A standout feature of TP Solar’s Tirunelveli facility is its inclusive workforce, with nearly 80% women employees.
This reflects Tata Power’s strong commitment to:
- Gender diversity
- Inclusive growth
- Community-centric industrial development
