NLC India Fully Commissions 300 MW Solar Project in Rajasthan


NLC India 300 MW solar power project commissioned at Barsingsar in Bikaner district Rajasthan
NLC India Limited (NLCIL), a Navratna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Coal, has achieved full commercial operation of its 300 MW solar power project at Barsingsar in Bikaner district, Rajasthan. This milestone significantly bolsters the company's renewable energy portfolio and advances India's clean energy objectives.

Phase-wise Commissioning : 
  • Phase I: 52.83 MW – August 26, 2025.
  • Phase II: 106 MW – November 2, 2025 
  • Phase III: 141.17 MW – January 24, 2026
The completion of Phase III marks the entire 300 MW capacity as fully operational.

" Project Execution "

The Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract was awarded to Tata Power Solar Systems Limited, which handled the turnkey execution, including engineering, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and initial O&M support. 

Renewable Energy Growth 

With this project, NLC India's total installed renewable capacity now stands at 1,766 MW. The company also operates 5,960 MW of thermal power, primarily serving southern states and Rajasthan. Founded in 1956 and based in Neyveli, Tamil Nadu, NLC India has historically focused on lignite mining and thermal generation but has aggressively expanded into solar and wind in recent years.

 Future Targets: 

NLC India aims for a total installed capacity of 20.13 GW by 2030, with renewables comprising a substantial portion. Projects like Barsingsar underscore its transition to sustainable energy.
