NTPC Renewable Energy commissioned 210 MW in December under the same 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project in Gujarat
NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has commissioned the second part capacity of 165 MW under its 1,200 MW Khavda-II Solar PV Project located in Gujarat. The capacity has been declared commercially operational effective from 00:00 hours on February 20, 2026. The project is being developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NREL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy Limited, the renewable energy platform of NTPC Limited.
With this latest addition, the commercial capacity of NTPC Green Energy Limited Group has increased from 8,827.68 MW to 8,992.68 MW, reflecting the company’s consistent execution of large-scale renewable projects. The commissioning marks another milestone in NTPC’s clean energy expansion strategy.
Earlier, the company had operationalized the first part capacity of 210 MW from the same Khavda-II project on January 30, 2026. With 375 MW now commissioned out of the total planned 1,200 MW, the project is progressing steadily toward full completion.
The Khavda renewable energy zone in Gujarat is rapidly emerging as one of India’s largest clean energy hubs, supported by strong solar resources and infrastructure readiness. NTPC’s investment in the region aligns with the national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.
Following the latest commissioning, the total installed capacity of the NTPC Group has reached 87,974 MW, while its commercial capacity now stands at 86,894 MW. The scale and pace of additions underline NTPC’s transition from a conventional power generator to a diversified energy major with a growing renewable portfolio.
With 825 MW still under development in the Khavda-II Solar PV Project, further capacity additions are expected in the coming months, strengthening NTPC’s leadership in India’s energy transition.
